Following his years at the conservatoire, Maisky was named the “Rostropovich of the future” after the very first concert he performed with the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra. Maisky has won the Tchaikovsky Competition Special Prize as an outstanding achievement of his earlier years and left Soviet Russia in 1970. He moved his international career to the top while working with the legendary musicians Rostropovich and Piatigorsky whom his talent is considered to be equal, and performing at concerts with stars including Lupu, Kremer, Berstein, Pletnev, Argerich, Gililov, Capuçon, Repin and Lang Lang. It is a privilege to listen to Maisky not only for those who enjoy classical music but for anyone with a taste for fine music.
